Letter from the president of ASCoF
Welcome to the Science Festival of ASCoF on 3-4 November 2006 in Paris.
Composed of students, scientists and engineers of Korean origin working in France,
ASCoF attains this year its 30 years of existence, a period coincident with the 120
year of the diplomatic relations between our two countries.
To commemorate these two big events, we are co-organizing with the CNRS, the
prestigious French national science research center, an ambitious conference on the
theme of the climatic environment of our blue planet, with the participation of world
renowned specialists on 3 November at CNRS. This will be followed on 4 November
by the 2nd European conference of Korean scientists and engineers on various topics,
which we are co-organizing with our homologues in UK (KSEAUK) and Germany
(VeKNI) at NOVOTEL Tour Eiffel.
We hope this 2006 Science Festival of ASCoF serves as a turning point in the depth
and roles that ASCoF would like to play in promoting “Big Sciences” beneficial to all
dwellers of our blue planet, which could be built in tight collaborations between Korea
and France as well as Europe.
